VISIT OF THE AMBASSADOR OF AUSTRIA TO THE EXECUTIVE COUNCIL OF THE AP VOJVODINA


On 14th February 2008, the President of the Executive Council of the AP Vojvodina, Bojan Pajtić LLM received Delegation of Austria, headed by H.E. Mr. Gerhard Jandl, Ambassador of Austria to the Republic of Serbia. The meeting was attended by Asamer Manfred, owner of the Austrian company “Asamer and Co.” and members of our Delegation: professor Dragoslav Petrović PhD, the Provincial Secretary for Science and Technological Development, Predrag Grgić, member of the Executive Council in charge of regional and international cooperation and Miladin Avramov, the State Secretary at the Ministry of Environmental Protection of the Republic of Serbia.

At the meeting, they exchanged their viewpoints on the current political and economic situation in our country. It was concluded that past cooperation between our country and the Republic of Austria, as well as regional cooperation of the AP Vojvodina with Styria Province was realised according to mutual expectations. They intend to continue successful cooperation in future (traditionally good-neighbourly relations, our diaspora in Austria, Austrian investments to our country).

It was pointed out that the issue of possibility of implementation of international technical projects (in 15 different types of current activities of international cooperation financed by the Provincial Secretariat for Science and Technological Development; out of the total number of 83 co-financed projects, 11 Austrian institutions participate in cooperation) pertaining to recultivation of quarries Kišnjeva glava, Rakovac and Ledinci on Fruška gora (opening of 1300 new jobs), had to be undertaken and implemented within legal framework of the Republic of Serbia, with support by and in the spirit of past good cooperation between the Provincial Government and Ministry of Environmental Protection of the Republic of Serbia.

They concluded that it was necessary to create conditions for high-quality form of tourism, i.e. cross-border nautical tourism, to establish education centre for development of economy and local community, as well as to develop and implement all other commenced activities more intensively for the purpose of achieving greater mutual benefits.
