VOJVODINA SUCCESSFULLY PARTICIPATES IN THE DKMT EUROREGION PROJECTS

In the Executive Council of the AP Vojvodina a press conference was held on 27th February 2008, where the Vice-President of the Executive Council of the AP Vojvodina, Gabor Lodi PhD, the Sub-Prefect of Csongrád County, Péter Zokor PhD, the Head of the Public Society DKMT Ms Ester Csokasi and the President of the Working Group “Kadarka”, Ignacije Tonković gave their statements.
They talked about development projects launched by the Secretariat for Regional and International Cooperation, as well as about establishing the Working Group “Kadarka” within the DKMT Euroregion. A presentation of the ERIC Project was also held, which is important for establishing cooperation among the media within the DKMT region.

Gabor Lodi PhD reminded the general public of activities which have been undertaken so far within the DKMT cooperation.

The first project included the design of the DKMT strategic plan and then the study project pertaining to improvement of the quality of drinking water and exchange of experience “on both sides of the European Union”, which was the third implemented project, while the fourth project which was implemented was titled “Tourist Routes Within the DKMT Euroregion”. The Vice-President of the Executive Council of the AP Vojvodina, Gabor Lodi PhD also mentioned projects which are underway.

One of those is the ERIC Project, i.e. activities pertaining to establishing the action group for overcoming problems caused by floods and the project titled “Health Insurance without Borders” which implies realisation of organised international cooperation in the field of health care. According to Mr. Lodi, the total value of these projects which are underway is 630,000 Euros.

On behalf of Csongrád County which is presiding over DKMT, Péter Zokor PhD, the Sub-Prefect of Csongrád County expressed his pleasure for setting up of the new Working Group “Kadarka” whose basic objective is to revitalise a very special value i.e. a genuine grape variety “Kadarka” which nearly disappeared from these territories. Apart from the Executive Council of the AP Vojvodina, two Hungarian counties: Bács-Kiskun and Csongrád County and Arad County from Romania also participate in this project. Mr. Zakor pointed out that it was important that setting up of this Working Group had been proposed by expert enologists. Mr. Zakor said: “For instance, we can drink Cabernet Sauvignon wine all over Europe, “Kadarka” variety is very specific and exclusively connected to this area, thereby connecting citizens of these territories both historically and gastronomically”.
The Head of the Public Society DKMT, Ms Ester Csokasi presented the project “Euroregional Information Centre”. The initiative was conceived due to the increasing need of the people in the DKMT region to be informed in their own languages. Namely, ERIC -Euroregional Information Centre realises the media cooperation and their news can be found on the web site www.ericinfo.eu. Quatrilingual online portal was designed, in Hungarian, Serbian, Romanian and English language, while within the radio service on this web site, reports can also be listened to. Radio programme titled “On the Waves of Europe” is jointly prepared by the radio associates from Szeged, Subotica and Timisoara. The basic idea of thematic destinations is that the whole territory of the DKMT region is represented as a unique tourist objective, regardless of borders. In the same way, the portal also has its marketing role. The aim is to facilitate business cooperation of entrepreneurs from our regions at a virtual level.
