ESTABLISHING THE DANUBE BUREAU IN NOVI SAD


On 24th September 2003, The Assembly of AP Vojvodina reached a decision to adopt Agreement on Establishing the Danube Bureau with its seat in Novi Sad.
Co-founders are the Assembly of the City of Novi Sad and Chamber of Commerce of Vojvodina. A formal statement regarding accession to the network of Danube Bureaus, was signed on 1st February 2004 at the Assembly of AP Vojvodina. The statement points out that partnership and connections between cities of the Danube-region and other regions will develope in the form of concrete projects in the area of culture, education and science, environmental protection, tourism, economy and municipal policy.

Danube Bureaus are contact, information and service agencies for all areas of cooperation and they coordinate and manage joint projects.

Financial resources for work of the Danube Bureau, as a non-profit , information and service office for all areas of cooperation on the territory of Novi Sad and AP Vojvodina , are provided by the founders.
The Danube Bureau adopted the rules of procedure, and its work is managed by the three-member Council. According to these rules of procedure, all expert and technical works are performed by employees of the Assembly and Executive Council of AP Vojvodina, Assembly and Executive Board of the City of Novi Sad and Chamber of Commerce of Vojvodina. Business premises for the Danube Bureau will be provided by the City of Novi Sad, for a permanent period.

During 2004, the Danube Bureau commenced realisation of an ambitious project «Days of Vojvodina in Ulm», as a part of International Danube-region Festival, where Vojvodina was successfully presented (organisers and participants highly rated Vojvodina presentation as the best one).

Expected dynamics until the end of the year:

-establishing direct cooperation between cities and regions of Southeast Europe which have already established Danube Bureau offices (Vukovar, Vidin, Tulča, Budapest and Baja),

-show design of the Central Museum of the Danube-region Germans from Ulm at the Museum of Vojvodina,

- engaging in the project regarding construction of a cycle path skirting the Danube, from Budapest to the Black sea,

- presentations and promotion of concrete projects and their applicability here(in cooperation with the Universty of Novi Sad and other scientific institutions),

- determining joint projects in areas of culture, ecology, economy and tourism.
