COOPERATION BETWEEN AP VOJVODINA AND LODJ DUKEDOME, POLAND

Political and economy delegation of Lodj Dukedome from Poland, headed by Marshal Mjeceslav Teodorcik, paid a visit to AP Vojvodina between 4th and 6th November 2003 with purpose of signing a Protocol on Cooperation between the two regions.


Lodj Dukedome is extremely developed region of Poland and it represents an environment with different cultures, religions and nationalities. Strong industry and agriculture (70% of land is cultivable agricultural land) of this region represent the main stronghold of our future mutual cooperation. Lodj has one of the biggest Institutes for Fruit and Vegetable Crops, which is famous for production of fruit and vegetables and it represents one of the biggest producer of onions and apples.
The main products of Lodj Dukedome are knitwear and fabrics. 20% of electric power of Poland and 80% of the total production of ceramic tiles are produced exactly in Lodj.
The Dukedome is also a scientific centre with 80 institutions of higher education.

On 6th November 2003, a Protocol on cooperation between AP Vojvodina and Lodj Dukedome was signed, by which it is envisaged to have joint activities in areas of promotion of economy and commercial exchange, agricultural development and modernisation of rural areas, as well as cooperation between representatives of small and medium-sized enterprises, university and research centers, institutions in area of culture, health care, social security, sport, tourism...
The Protocol will help Vojvodina in getting closer to European integration and also help Lodj Dukedome present itself on the market of Vojvodina.


The delegation of Poland expressed their genuine interest in cooperation in agricultural area, in the sense of export of heavy agricultural mechanization to our country, as well as import of light (small) tractors from Serbia.
Guests had the opportunity to visit Novi Sad Fair and Institute for Field and Vegetable Crops, which is very important in this part of Europe considering the import of maize, soya beans, alfalfa and wheat (our hybrids are planted in China, Russia, Ukraine and other countries- approximately 2 million hectares all over the world).
It is agreed to meet again and sign, during that next meeting, an Interuniversity Agreement and the fact that represents the basis for strengthening this kind of cooperation is that there is a foreign-language instructor for Serbian language from the University of Novi Sad employed at the University of Lodj, a number of students from Lodj and other parts of Poland come to practical training at the University of Novi Sad , at the Summer School of Serbian language and interest of the University of Novi Sad to introduce Polish language at the Department for Slavic Studies, with the support by the Executive Council of AP Vojvodina.
